IN OBTAINING HIGH OCTANE NUMBER PETROLS
The process of primary oil refining involves only the physical separation of oil into fractions without chemical changes. The result of this process is low-octane petrol.
In Russia there are few plants capable of producing petrol in accordance with Euro-5 requirements. Recycling processes based on catalytic cracking are not yet used universally, and in most cases plants perform downstream refining and not re-refining.
The increase of the octane number of gasoline by aromatic additives is not effective any more due to the Euro-5 standard introduction, which prohibits this method.
THE PROCESS OF CATALYTIC ISOMERIZATION ALLOWS OBTAINING QUALITY PRODUCTS
The process of catalytic isomerization increases the octane number of light gasoline fractions, increases the proportion of isoparaffins, reduces the content of aromatic hydrocarbons and sulfur.
Straight-run gasoline fractions of oil and gas condensates, gasoline, light petroleum distillate and other fractions are raw materials for catalytic cracking units.
Until recently, this technology was used only at large state-owned oil refineries, required sophisticated hardware design and specific conditions.
