THE ARCTIC UNIT DIESEL FUEL DEWAXING UNIT

THE PURPOSE OF THE ARCTIC UNIT

The unit is designed for the catalytic conversion of long-chain n-paraffins into shorter molecules in order to reduce the pour point of DF, as well as increase the depth of processing and obtain a maximum of light oil products.

The UNIT allows using of various raw materials available: light and dark heating oil, low viscosity marine fuel, paraffins, summer DF.

OPERATION PRINCIPLE OF THE UNIT

RAW MATERIAL SUPPLY
RAW MATERIAL IS SUPPLIED FROM THE TANK TO THE STEAM HEATER BY THE PUMP.
HEATING
AFTER PREHEATING IN THE REBOILER, RAW MATERIAL IS SUPPLIED TO THE STEAM HEATER TO BE HEATED UP TO 360 °C, AND THEN GOES TO THE GAS-PHASE CATALYTIC REACTOR.
CATALYTIC TRANSFORMATION
RAW MATERIAL IS SEPARATED IN THE REACTOR. THE LIGHT COMPONENTS ARE EVAPORATED, AND THE DARK AND HEAVY COMPONENTS CREATE THE CUBE RESIDUE. SEPARATED GASES THEN PASS THROUGH THE CATALYTIC LAYER, WHERE LOW-BOILING HYDROCARBONS ARE BEING DEHYDRATED, HIGH-BOILING ONES ARE BEING ALMOST FULLY DEPARAFINIZED, AND THE MOST HIGH-BOILING ONES ARE SUPPLIED FOR CRACKING.
DIVISION AND COOLING
RECTIFICATION COOLING ALLOWS SEPARATING LIGHT PETROL FROM DIESEL. GOING THROUGH THE CASCADE OF REBOILERS AND HEAT EXCHANGERS, WINTER DIESEL FUEL BEGINS TO HAVE THE FOLLOWING PROPERTIES: FILTRATION TEMPERATURE STARTING FROM -35 °C AND FREEZING POINT UP TO -50 °C, WHICH THEN GOES TO STORAGE TANKS.

DEWAXING PROCESS OF DF IS BASED ON THE DEPRESSOR CATALYST WITH THE HIGH-SILICONE MOLECULAR SIEVE, DFC - 1.

  • The the catalyst is used without hydrogen, which reduces the amount of pre-carbon deposits and extends the life of the catalyst.
  • Its features include high activity, high thermal stability, good selectivity of cracking of normal paraffins and the ability to significantly reduce the freezing point of the diesel fuel (more than by 40 °C).
  • The catalyst is suitable for non-hydrogen plants of small and medium capacity.
